JESUS GAINS FOLLOWERS
4 1Now as Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their net into the sea—for they were fishermen.
2When, however, turning around, Jesus saw them following him, he asked, “What do you want?”
3They said, “Rabbi!” (which means “teacher”), “where are you staying?”
4Jesus laughed. “Come,” he said, “and you will see.”
5So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent the day with him, and they spoke of many things.
6Eventually, they asked him, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back. What do you say about yourself?”
7And he replied, “I’m just the voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘The old is gone, the new is come. God is within you. Know yourself, and know God.’”
