ON THE NEW SPIRITUALITY
21 1Then Peter came to Jesus and asked: “What then should we say? Are the Holy Books wrong? Are they opposed to the promise of God?”
2And Jesus replied: “In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through prophets, at many times and in many ways. But today, he is speaking through us.
3So do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat inspired words with contempt, but test them all. Hold on to the good; reject the bad.
4Work out your own salvation. For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. 5The old is gone, but look: the new is being born! 6For neither ritual observance or its lack means anything; what counts is a new creation.
7If there had been nothing wrong with the original, no place would have been sought for something else. 8So, forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on towards the Goal.
9Sing unto the Lord a new song! 10No one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine goes into new wine skins.
11Before true knowledge came, we were held in custody under Rules, locked up until the true knowledge that was to come would be unveiled. Now that true knowledge has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
12Look! God’s dwelling place is now among humanity! And he will dwell amongst them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.
For the old order of things has passed away.”
ON THE NEW SPIRITUALITY
21 1Τότε προσελθὼν ὁ Πέτρος εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Κύριε, τί οὖν ἐροῦμεν; αἱ γραφαὶ ἁμαρτία; αἱ οὖν γραφαὶ κατὰ τῆς ἐπαγγελίας τοῦ θεοῦ;
