JESUS AT THE HOUSE OF A PHARISEE

11 ¹When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.

²Now, a woman in that town, a “sinner,” learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume.

³As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and poured perfume on them.

⁴When the Pharisee who had invited Jesus over saw this, he said: “If this man were really a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is: a sinner!”

⁵And Jesus answered him: “Simon, I have something to tell you.”

⁶“Tell me, teacher,” he said.

⁷“Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you…

⁸Shove off.”

⁹And turning to the woman, he looked at her and said, “Your sins are forgiven. Do not let anyone judge you any more.”

JESUS AT THE HOUSE OF A PHARISEE

11 ¹Ἠρώτα δέ τις αὐτὸν τῶν Φαρισαίων ἵνα φάγῃ μετ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Φαρισαίου κατεκλίθη. ²καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ ἥτις ἦν ἐν τῇ πόλει, ἁμαρτωλός, καὶ ἐπιγνοῦσα ὅτι κατάκειται ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ τοῦ Φαρισαίου, κομίσασα ἀλάβαστρον μύρου ³καὶ στᾶσα ὀπίσω παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ κλαίουσα τοῖς δάκρυσιν ἤρξατο βρέχειν τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ταῖς θριξὶν τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτῆς ἐξέμασσεν καὶ κατεφίλει τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤλειφεν τῷ μύρῳ.

⁴Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Φαρισαῖος ὁ καλέσας αὐτὸν εἶπεν· Οὗτος εἰ ἦν προφήτης, ἐγίνωσκεν ἂν τίς καὶ ποταπὴ ἡ γυνὴ ἥτις ἅπτεται αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἁμαρτωλός ἐστιν. 

⁵Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν· Σίμων, ἔχω σοί τι εἰπεῖν. ⁶ὁ δέ· Διδάσκαλε, εἰπέ, φησίν. ⁷Θέσθε ὑμεῖς εἰς τὰ ὦτα ὑμῶν τοὺς λόγους τούτους·

⁸Εἰς κοράκας.

⁹Ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς στραφεὶς καὶ ἰδὼν αὐτὴν εἶπεν· Ἀφέωνταί σου αἱ ἁμαρτίαι. μὴ οὖν τις κρινέτω σε ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν.
